Capt. David A. Alpar led the Ceremonial Brass, the official ceremonial ensemble of the United States Air Force during the arrival of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) Commander, Navy Capt. Frank Mays' arrival at the United States Air Force Band hangar for an in-depth familiarization tour of the band's members, capabilities and facilities. A native of Amarillo, Texas, Alpar graduated with honors from the Interlochen Arts Academy at Interlochen, Michigan, where he was awarded the "Most Outstanding Brass Player" in 1988. He earned a Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance in 1993 and a Master of Music in orchestral conducting in 1996 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Alpar entered the U.S. Air Force in October 2001 as an enlisted member of the United States Air Force Band of the West, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio and later earned his commission in 2005.
