Eighty-four-years-young Army Signal Corps Sgt. Jim Conway, a combat veteran of the Korean War, shares his story with Gold Star Mother Ada Large, who lost her son U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Samuel W. Large when his helicopter crashed off the eastern coast of Africa in 2006. Conway and Large attended the Veterans Day program at the Atlanta History Center’s Veterans Park on Tuesday. Large, of Villa Rica, Ga., says it gives her some comfort to take part in remembrance ceremonies such as this, "My son is always with me, and my being here reminds others of the sacrifices we make as parents and Americans."
