Command Sgt. Maj. Stanley Varner, senior enlisted leader of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team “Spartans,” 3rd Infantry Division, leads what is left of the brigade after several personnel cuts in an enlisted-only division run Nov. 17. This division run marked the beginning of a four-day event called Marne Week, where all but the most essential work stops, and the subordinate units of the 3rd ID come together to compete in many different events. At the end of the four days, earned points are added up and a winner is announced. Amazingly the 2nd ABCT won, even though they are severely under staffed due to their imminent inactivation.
