An Iraqi special operations forces soldier provides security for his fellow soldiers during "call-out" drills while conducting training. The purpose of call-outs is to give suspects the opportunity to surrender themselves without violence. This type of practice may help aid in arresting suspected insurgents without loss of life for either side in the Anbar province. The 9th Bn. is one of multiple special operations elements throughout Iraq. "Iraq is so spread out you can't control it from one location, so each province has teams to execute high value missions," said a 9th Bn. lieutenant.
