Jack Cadigan stands with his family along with Antoine Walker Capt. Zachary Johnson, Sgt. Keily Warren, and Stephen Cannella after receiving the Sports Illustrated High School Athlete of the Month award during half time of a varsity basketball game, Jan. 20. Cadigan's father, a cardiologist, found that Jack had a threatening heart abnormality when they were volunteering at a clinic St. Tock, Haiti last August, and Jack underwent surgery upon return to the U.S. Later Jack heard of a Haitian orphan who had the same heart condition and, after many obstacles, brought her to the States for a life-saving operation. Cadigan is a Medfield High School senior and varsity basketball player. Walker is a former Boston Celtics basketball player. Johnson is the executive officer of Recruiting Station Portsmouth, N.H.; Warren is a canvassing recruiter for Recruiting Substation Framingham. Cannella is an assistant managing editor for Sports Illustrated.
