Jack Cadigan holds a photo of him and Lourdina Chery, a Haitian orphan, showing their open heart-surgery scars Jan. 20. Cadigan's father, a cardiologist, found that Jack had a threatening heart abnormality when they were volunteering at a clinic St. Tock, Haiti last August, and Jack underwent surgery upon return to the U.S. Later Jack heard that Chery had the same heart condition and, after many obstacles, brought her to the States for a life-saving operation. Cadigan is a Medfield High School senior and varsity basketball player.
