Jack Cadigan stands with his family after receiving the Sports Illustrated High School Athlete of the Month award during half time of a varsity basketball game, Jan. 20. Cadigan's father, a cardiologist, found that Jack had a threatening heart abnormality when they were volunteering at a clinic St. Tock, Haiti last August, and Jack underwent surgery upon return to the U.S. Later Jack heard of a Haitian orphan who had the same heart condition and, after many obstacles, brought her to the States for a life-saving operation. Cadigan is a Medfield High School senior and varsity basketball player.
