A child with cancer finds help with a new coloring book and crayons. Staff Sgt Noah Bolton become a crayon mentor for while volunteering at the only national cancer center in the Kyrgyz Republic. This is one of the Manas Air Base Outreach Society focus group locations. The ward houses 40 patients in 9 rooms, but because of the distance and cost to travel there, a parent of each child stay in residence with them for the one-year treatment of various kinds of cancer, making 80 people in residence. Despite the crowded living conditions, the cancer center reports a 70% recovery rate of early-diagnosed cancer. Although government funded, the money does not pay for all the costs. Damiria Omoorzakovna, principal and lead doctor, spends most of her time raising funds for the center. Recent donations include from an Italian football captain, for $200,000 in bone marrow operations. Another is $3,000,000 dollars from the Italian government for a new facility, but more is needed to cover the total cost.
