An interior room of the Sultan Saqi Shrine is lit by afternoon light. Airmen from the 506th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron partnered with Iraqi airmen here to restore electricity and running water to the shrine and another building located in the on-base cemetery. According to officials at the Defense Department's Human Terrain Team here, Turkmen claim descendants of a cousin of the prophet Muhammad is buried in the Sultan Saqi shrine.
