SAN DIEGO (March 31, 2015) Capt. Paul C. Spedero, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5), reads the official decommissioning orders with Rear Admiral Fernandez L. Pond, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3, during the decommissioning ceremony of the USS Peleliu at Naval Base San Diego. Peleliu has been decommissioned after more than 34 years of service. After the decommissioning process is complete, Peleliu will be towed from San Diego to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, to join the reserve fleet.
