A team of cavalry scouts from the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division sprint for the finish line of the recon run portion of the Gainey Cup May 5 at Fort Benning, Georgia. The six 3-8 Cav Troopers represented the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at the Gainey Cup, because 3-8 Cav is currently on a rotational deployment to South Korea for nine months. Since they’ve been in Korea, these six troopers competed in a division level competition and won the opportunity to represent 2nd ID at the Gainey Cup. (U.S. Army photo by Patrick A.
