A Marine with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, nails down the first layer of decking on a non-standard bridge during a field exercise aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 14, 2015. Measurements are paramount when it comes to building a non-standard bridge, said Cpl. Matthew Tarum, a squad leader with the unit. If the measurements are not correct, the bridge could fall into the gap or the military load class (weight rating) could be compromised. A non-standard bridge can be used either for foot traffic or vehicles. This bridge’s MLC allows it to withstand the weight of one Humvee. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Justin T.
