The Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate USS Thach steams through the Persian Gulf. The ship's mission is to provide anti-surface and anti-submarine protection for carrier strike groups, expeditionary strike groups and other military and merchant shipping. Thach and the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group 7 are currently on a routine deployment in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility focusing on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
