Master Gunnery Sgt. Christopher Benke, the provost sergeant with the Provost Marshal’s Office, fires his M1014 shotgun from the kneeling position during the practical weapons course, July 22, 2015, at Kaneohe Bay Range Training Facility. Marines with the PMO need to be proficient with not only the M16, but also the M1014 shotgun and the M9 pistol. The 140-acre range provides facilities for small arms marksmanship training, qualification, and requalification. In addition to Marine Corps Base Hawaii Marines, the range is used by members of the Department of Defense, local law enforcement, and federal organizations. The mission of MCB Hawaii is to provide facilities, programs and services in direct support of units, individuals and families to enhance and sustain combat readiness for all operating forces and tenant organizations aboard the installation.
