Two Highly Moblie Multi-Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) leave staging area and enter the training site, signaling the beginning of a 12-day training cycle at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., Aug. 14. The two-week event gives Soldiers an opportunity to put their skills and experience to the test in a deployment simulation. This training cycle is the first force-on-force, high-intensity conflict rotation the National Guard has participated in since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, and is composed of more than 5,200 Soldiers from 11 states’ National Guard units, the U.S. Army Reserves, and active duty U.S. Army Soldiers.
