Sergeant Maj. Troy E. Black, the 1st Marine Logistics Group sergeant major, talks about leadership with meritoriously promoted sergeants during a lunch aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 23, 2016. Four meritoriously promoted sergeants shared an afternoon with Brigadier Gen. David A. Ottignon, the 1st MLG commanding general, the MLG sergeant major, and Master Chief Petty Officer Harlan B. Patawaran, the 1st MLG command master chief. The gathering served as an ideal opportunity to draw on the leaders’ knowledge and experience through discussions of leadership, work ethic, family life, and what it means to be a sergeant of Marines. The four Marines promoted included Sgt. Casey Primeaux, a combat engineer with 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Sgt. Nadia Gonzalezdiez, a food service specialist with Food Service Company, Headquarters Regiment, Sgt. Ryan Langham, a communications maintenance technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 5, and Sgt.
