Spc. Cecil E. Self, a native of Brunswick, Ga., provides security during a vehicle recovery operation near a village in Ninewa province, Jan. 18. A member of 3rd Platoon, 204th Military Police Company, 519th MP Battalion, headquartered in Fort Polk, La., Self was driving a Caiman version of the Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected gun truck when a culvert collapsed, requiring Q-West to dispatch its recovery quick reaction force, manned by members of C Company, 2nd Battalion, 198th Combined Arms, 155th Brigade Combat Team, out of Oxford and Indianola, Miss.
