160321-N-VR008-135 SAN DIEGO (March 21, 2016) – Sailors assigned to deck department on board the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) release the mooring lines to get underway for the first time since completing a 10-month post shakedown availability (PSA). America is currently conducting maritime training operations off the coast of California. The ship is the first of its class and is optimized for Marine Corps aviation.
