Mississippi Guardsmen with A Company, 2nd Battalion, 198th Combined Arms, 155th Brigade Combat Team, the Q-West force protection company from Hernando, Miss., explore the rubble and rooms of a fortress dating from about 1220, according to an inscription above the outside of gate. The Mississippians visited the structure - which stands remarkably intact on the saddle of a ridge near the village of Khan Najma, Ninewa province - while returning from a mission, Feb. 3.
