Recruits of Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, perform the 10-second gear strip while submerged during the Water Survival Basic Qualification at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, April 11. This event helped train recruits to quickly strip heavy gear that may inhibit their ability to float while in deep water. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate June 10.
