160419-N-FR671-066 PACIFIC OCEAN (April 19, 2016) – Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Jeron Hancock, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), signals a stop to the anchor chain during an anchor drop evolution in the ship’s foc’sle. America is an aviation centric amphibious assault ship that supports Marine aviation requirements, from small-scale contingency operations of an expeditionary strike group, to forcible entry missions in major theaters of war.
