160324-N-PO203-098 PEARL HARBOR (Mar. 24, 2016) Gunners Mate 2nd Class Daniel Green, right, and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Tong Vang, defend against virtual enemy combatants during an Office of Naval Research (ONR) demonstration of new and improved training programs that combine software and gaming technology to help naval forces plan for a wide array of missions and operations. The demonstration at the Fleet Integrated Synthetic Training/Testing Facility (FIST2FAC) on Ford Island, Hawaii, and aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) located pierside at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, allows Sailors to interact with in countless virtual settings—and train for multiple missions simultaneously.
