1st Lt. Gavin Moore, an infantry officer assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, attempts to throw a hand grenade to reach a 35 meter target during the training phase of the Expert Infantryman Badge training and testing at Fort Hood, Texas, May 3. More than 700 Soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division, as well as some from Fort Carson and Fort Polk, underwent two weeks of training and one week of testing in basic infantry skills attempting to earn the EIB.
