More than 700 Soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division, as well as some from Fort Carson and Fort Polk underwent two weeks of training and one week of testing in basic infantry skills to earn the EIB at Fort Hood, Texas, from April 25 to May 13. The gauntlet consists of more than 30 tasks, an Army Physical Fitness Test, and a 12-mile road march, with an average pass rate of 14 percent.
