Sgt. 1st Class Denell Simmons, an infantryman assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, provides instruction to Spc. Sam Mewes of the 52nd Infantry Regiment, during the Call for Fire station at the Expert Infantryman Badge training and testing at Fort Hood, Texas, May 3. More than 700 Soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division, as well as some from Fort Carson and Fort Polk underwent two weeks of training and one week of testing in basic infantry skills to earn the EIB at Fort Hood, Texas, from April 25 to May 13.
