HONIARA, Guadalcanal (May 20, 2016) – Royal New Zealand Air Force Sqdrn. Ldr. Ron Logan (left), and U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Adam Disque, attached to the guided missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) view a WWII U.S. service member memorial on Guadalcanal. Spruance, with attached Coast Guard District 14 Law Enforcement Detachment, is currently participating in Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI). Spruance, along with the guided-missile destroyers USS Momsen (DDG 92) and USS Decatur (DDG 73), and embarked “Devil Fish” and “Warbirds” detachments of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 49, are deployed as part of a U.S. 3rd Fleet Pacific Surface Action Group (PAC SAG) under Destroyer Squadron (CDS) 31.
