African Partnership Station West Commander, Capt. Cindy Thebaud, speaks to Armed Forces of Liberia Coast Guardsman Seaman Christopher Saah aboard while transiting to the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock-landing ship USS Gunston Hall. Saah is one of 17 Armed Forces of Liberia Coast Guardsmen embarking Gunston Hall for in-port and at-sea training in maritime safety and security as part of APS West. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa.
