Marines perform maintenance on their M1-A1 Abrams tank following a rehearsal for the culminating event of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Combined Arms Exercise 2016 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 16. Tanks not only provide accurate and effective firepower from a safe distance, but they also provide shielding for foot-mobile troops, maneuvering toward enemy locations. MEUCAX offers the only opportunity to execute battalion-level live-fire combined arms training prior to deploying later this year. The Marines participating are with Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, Combat Logistics Battalion 11, and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced).
