An AH-1Z Cobra fires on a simulated enemy position during the culminating event of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Combined Arms Exercise 2016 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 17. Combined arms is a highly effective military technique where you hit the enemy from multiple sides, such as using close-air support, indirect fire from artillery and mortars, wheeled assets , and ground forces to close with and destroy enemy units. MEUCAX offers the only opportunity to execute battalion-level live-fire combined arms training prior to the 11th MEU’s Western Pacific deployment later this year. The Marines participating are with Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, Combat Logistics Battalion 11, and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced).
