Capt. Remigio J. Flor (right), a native of Miami and graduate of the General Surgery Internship Program, Department of Surgery, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, receives his diploma from Lt. Col. Eric P. Ahnfeldt, director of the General Surgery Residency Program, during WBAMC’s Graduate Medical Education graduation at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, June 18. The WBAMC GME program trains physicians, medical students and other health care professionals by placing equal emphasis on patient care, teaching and research. The General Surgery Internship Program is the first year of the six-year long General Surgery Residency Program which emphasizes the need for military general surgeons to be capable in all areas of surgery. This philosophy is based on the likely deployment of graduates and faculty to remote locations in austere conditions.
