Lance Cpl. Mark Malarkey's boots have undoubtedly seen better days, but he ensures they accompany him each time he leaves the wire and proudly displays them aboard Forward Operating Base Edinburgh, Afghanistan, April 3. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native noted that because the boots got him through a combat tour in Iraq last year, he figured it would be wise to hang onto them for the next one.
