Cpl. Preston G. Thompson briefs a group of U.S. Marines acting as rioters during the practical application portion of riot control training, at Taurama, Barracks, Papua New Guinea, June 19, 2016, as part of Exercise Koa Moana. Koa Moana is the first multi-national, bilateral exercise between U.S. Marines and the Papua New Guinea Defence Force. It is designed to increase interoperability and relations by sharing infantry, engineering, medical and law enforcement capabilities. Thompson, from Wyoming, Michigan, is a military policeman and chief non-lethal weapons instructor with Task Force Koa Moana, originally assigned to Charlie Company, 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
