A recruit of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, prepares to descend a fast rope during the rappel tower event at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif., June 24. Recruits began the event by learning the techniques of fast roping and constructing their own harness before taking on the 60-foot tower. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate July 8.
