A recruit of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, prepares to descend the rappel tower at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif., June 24. The tower instills confidence in the recruits by having them face their fears and successfully conquer the 60-foot structure. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate July 8.
