Sgt. 1st Class Aaron Matherly, a telecommunications chief with the Military Transition Team attached to 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, U.S. Division-Center, cleans out a screw on the butt of an M-16 rifle during an initial inspection of several 24th Bde., 6th Iraqi Army Div. Soldiers' rifles April 17 at Joint Security Station Nasir Wa Salam. As an Iraqi soldier watched intently, Matherly explained to him that the M-16 rifle is not a reliable weapon if it is not properly maintained.
