Sergeant Jonathon Delong, from Passadena, Md., Company C, 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, Maryland National Guard, attached to the 7th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, stands near his UH-60 Black Hawk as he waits to greet Lt. Gen. Peter Chiarelli, Multi National Corps-Iraq commander, at Logistical Support Area Anaconda, Iraq August 3. Chiarelli was at the LSA to present Air Medals to a couple of his personal flight crews for responding to a downed aircraft site while his deputy commander was on board July 13. The crews, from Company C, responded to a call that an AH-64 Apache was shot down in Baghdad and within minutes of hearing the radio call for immediate ground or air support, plotted out the location and rescued both pilots and returned them to a safe location.
