Col. Eric Ifune (left), a general surgeon with the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron and an Iraqi Surgeon discuss the procedure as they work together to perform an irrigation and drainage debridement of a gunshot wound to the right thigh of an Iraqi patient at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, April 24. The procedure lasted approximately 30 minutes and is the first time, to the hospital staff's knowledge, that this partnership between Iraqi and American military surgeons has taken place.
