Col. Eric Ifune, a general surgeon with the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron holds the leg of an Iraqi patient as an Iraqi surgeon staples foam to the right thigh during an irrigation and drainage debridement procedure at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, April 24. The procedure lasted approximately 30 minutes and is the first time, to the hospital staff's knowledge, that this partnership between Iraqi and American military surgeons has taken place.
