MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Major Gen. Joseph L. Osterman, commanding general of Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, praises the newly unveiled World War II Marine Raider memorial during the command’s Honor the Fallen ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 21, 2016. To the left of the Raider memorial stands the MARSOC memorial, representing those who embraced the unconquerable spirit and honors all of the Marines who have lost their lives since the inception of MARSOC. Since April 2014, fourteen MARSOC Marines have died in the line of duty. The fallen were recognized and a set of identification tags, commemorating each Marine, was placed onto the memorial. Afterwards, Osterman presented pins to family members of the fallen in order to fortify the relationship between them and MARSOC. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Ryan C. Mains/ Released)
