MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Major Gen. Joseph L. Osterman, commanding general of Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, and Sgt. Maj. Doug Schaefer, the MARSOC command sergeant major, present pins to family members, memorializing their fallen loved ones, in order to fortify the bond between MARSOC and the families of the fallen, during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 21, 2016. The MARSOC memorial represents those who embraced the unconquerable spirit and honors all of the Marines that were lost since the inception of MARSOC. Since April 2014, fourteen MARSOC Marines died in the line of duty. The fallen were recognized and a set of identification tags, commemorating each Marine, was placed onto the memorial.
