The guided-missile frigate USS Vandegrift and the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Mellon move into position before commencing a surface gunnery exercise as part of Naval Engagement Activity Indonesia 2010. In its 16th year, NEA is part of the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness.
