Marines with Companies B and C, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, simulate insertion behind enemy lines during a free-fall training aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 4, 2014. To avoid being compromised, Marines are inserted miles away from their objective and must quickly pack the multi-mission parachute system. 1st Marine Division is employed as the ground combat element of I Marine Expeditionary Force and provides the ground combat forces necessary for ship to shore forcible entry operations.
