Green tea leaves rest on a table during a green tea seminar Nov. 22 on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The tea seminar educated attendees on the proper preparation, health benefits and cultural background of Japanese green tea, also called ryokucha. Green tea is primarily prepared by steeping the tea leaves or dissolving green tea powder into hot water. During the seminar, a certified tea specialist explained the proper process of steeping the tea, as well as the importance of carrying out the steps properly. For centuries, the tea has been used for medicinal and social purposes due to its antibacterial effects, caffeine content and wealth of nutrients. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Janessa K. Pon)
