Lynch cut a cake in celebration of Native American and Alaskan Native heritage month observance on the mess decks aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The Department of Defense recognizes American Indians and Alaskan Natives during the month of November for their dedicated service to both the DOD mission and to our country. Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.
