ARABIAN GULF (Nov. 26, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Nick Williams sands the rudder of an F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the Wildcats of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 131 in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Williams serves aboard Ike as an aviation structural mechanic. Ike and its carrier strike group are deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, a multinational effort to weaken and destroy Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant operations in the Middle East region and around the world.
