Sgt. 1st Class Sean Carey gives a block of instruction to the officers of the Nigerien Armed Forces (FAN) Basic Training on the proper way to utilize a shadow box while 1st Lt. Daniel Godlasky tries to maintain a steady aim. The shadow boxes, provided to the basic training school by the team from 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, of the 1st Brigade Combat Team "Bastogne", 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will be used as training aids to improve FAN recruit basic marksmanship abilities
The Bastogne Brigade team spent four weeks observing and making recommendations for improvement to the Nigerien basic training course.
The Bastogne Brigade is the regionally allocated force supporting U.S. Army Africa events and exercises across the African continent this year.
