Staff Sgt. Gary Beals, left, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit's chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense instructor and Metaric, La., native, ensures the M-50 field protective mask fits properly on a Marine before entering a gas chamber aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 27. The MEU was the first unit in the Marine Corps on the east coast to receive the new M-50 gas-mask.
