Third class petty officers take the semi-annual advancement exam on the aft mess deck of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Sailors are given three hours to answer 200 questions that test their knowledge of their rating and basic military requirements. Their test score is one of several factors that will ultimately determine their advancement to second class petty officer. Ronald Reagan is currently at sea in the Pacific Ocean.
