U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATION, USS Somerset (Feb. 11, 2017) Maritime Raid Force Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit control a simulated casualty being hoisted into a UH-1Y Huey helicopter during a casualty evacuation training event aboard the USS Somerset (LPD 25), Feb. 11. This training allowed pilots and crewmembers with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced) to work with the MRF on the proper procedures when evacuating a casualty into a UH-1Y Huey. The 11th MEU is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet’s mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region while underway during their West-Pac 16-2 deployment.
