A compass and map used during the land navigation portion of a tactical air control party exercise by members of the 682nd Air Support Operations Squadron, July 7, 2010. In order to renew TACP currencies, airmen are tasked with six different evaluations one of which is land navigation with a compass and map. The TACP are the specialists who are assigned to combat units. They advise ground forces on aircraft employment and capabilities, coordinate and control aerospace operation and participate in battle planning.
